This document specifies procedures for statistical analysis and rating of non-metallic inclusions (simplified into inclusions in the following) using scanning electron microscope (SEM) with energy dispersive X-Ray spectrometer (EDS) and automatic image analysis capabilities. When this method is used to rate inclusions, it can produce the same ratings as ISO 4967 and is intended for inclusions above 2µm in rolled or forged steel products having a reduction ratio of at least 3. When this document is used for statistical analysis, it can be applied to all size of inclusions in a variety of billets or rolled steels.
