This document: The life cycle of a CO2 geological storage project covers all phases and activities of the project, from the start of the project including site screening, feasibility, characterization, assessment, engineering, permitting, and construction, through the start of injection, and proceeding through subsequent operations until cessation of injection and culminating in the post-injection phase, which concludes with project termination. Figure 1 illustrates the limits of this document. This document does not apply to: A CO2-EOR project that has stored CO2 in association with CO2-EOR can transition to operate under this document after all production of hydrocarbons from the storage unit(s) has ceased. If production of hydrocarbons in commercial quantities begins from the storage unit(s), the storage project is outside of the scope of this document and ISO 27916 applies to CO2 storage.
