The scope of this part 2 of ISO 6142 is in accordance with the scope of ISO 6142-1. Part 2 describes the static gravimetric preparation of Class II calibration gas mixtures and describes a method for calculating the measurement uncertainty associated with the amount fraction of each component. In addition to all of the contributions to the measurement uncertainty mentioned in ISO 6142-1, this part also considers the uncertainty resulting from the validation process for Class II mixtures that are not individually verified, as is the case for Class I mixtures. Statistical process control of the validation process is required. This document extends the uncertainty evaluation described in ISO 6142-1 to include the effects of batch production and the verification process. It provides guidance on how to derive an uncertainty budget that is representative of a particular category of mixtures. Methods for the batch production of more than one mixture in a single process are included in this part of ISO 6142. The gravimetric production of gas mixtures with nominally identical composition can be achieved by preparing a batch of identical cylinders for filling and connecting the cylinders to a filling manifold and placing one cylinder on a balance, which controls the filling process. This part of ISO 6142 is only applicable to mixtures of gaseous or totally vaporized components, which may be introduced into the cylinder in the gaseous or liquid state. Both binary and multi-component gas mixtures are covered by this part of ISO 6142. This document is limited to non-reactive molecules/components that are greater than or equal to an amount fraction of 100 µmol/mol. The standard excludes components that react with each other, or with common mixture contaminants such as water vapour or oxygen or react with the inner surface of the cylinder and valve in the form of absorption or adsorption.

This document specifies a method for the quantitative determination of monomeric diisocyanate content in coating materials, adhesives and other liquid or pasty materials. This method is suitable for the quantification of the following monomeric diisocyanates: methylene diphenyl diisocyanate (MDI, 2,4’-MDI and 4,4’-MDI), toluene diisocyanate (TDI, 2,6-TDI, 2,4-TDI), (cis/trans) isophorone diisocyanate (IPDI) and hexamethylene diisocyanate (HDI,1,6-HDI) in various matrices for concentrations ranging from 0,01 % to 2,0 % mass fraction. For higher concentrations a suitable dilution before the derivatization with p-nitrobenzyl-N-propylamine (PNBPA) is performed. The measurements are carried out using UHPLC with a multiple wavelength detector.

This document specifies the principles and procedures for estimating the thermal endurance of rubbers from the results of exposure to elevated temperatures for long periods. Two approaches are specified (see Introduction): In this document, the estimation of thermal endurance is based solely on the change in selected properties resulting from periods of exposure to elevated temperatures. The various properties of rubbers change at different rates on thermal ageing, hence comparison between different rubbers can only be made using the same properties.

This International Standard describes the general procedure for measuring the diffuse radiance factor of all types of pulp, paper and board. More particularly, it specifies in detail the procedures to be used for calibrating the equipment, and in Annex A, the characteristics of the equipment to be used for such measurements. This International Standard may be used to measure the diffuse radiance factors and related properties of materials containing fluorescent whitening agents, provided that the UV-content of the instrument illumination has been adjusted to give the same level of fluorescence as a fluorescent reference standard for a selected CIE illuminant, in accordance with the specific International Standard describing the measurement of the property in question. This International Standard describes in Annex C the preparation of fluorescent reference standards.

This document specifies a method for the determination of the bound styrene content of styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) latices. The method is applicable to hot (approximately 50 °C) emulsion polymerized SBR latices having a bound styrene content, expressed on the SBR content, of up to 55 % and to cold (approximately 5 °C) emulsion polymerized SBR latices having a bound styrene content between 18 % and 40 %. The method is not applicable to reinforced styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR. .Y) latices, carboxylic-styrene-butadiene rubber (XSBR) latices and pyridine-styrene-butadiene rubber (PSBR) latices.

This International Standard specifies methods for determining the pot life of multi-part adhesives in order to be able to determine whether the pot life conforms to the minimum specified working life required of an adhesive. For the purposes of simplification, the term “pot life” is deemed to have the same meaning as “working life” and will be used to represent both throughout this International Standard. Methods described to measure the property provide different answers. So the results shall be specified with respect to the method used. The test methods described are suitable for assessing all multi–part adhesives, and especially epoxy based and polyurethane based adhesives, but they are not suitable for some acrylic-based adhesives.

This document specifies a method for determining the boiling range of liquids that boil between 30 °C and 300 °C at normal pressure, and that are chemically stable and do not corrode the apparatus during the distillation. The method is applicable to organic liquids such as hydrocarbons, esters, alcohols, ketones, ethers and similar products.
